Our InstaForex review
Overview
InstaForex is one of the older retail forex brands still in business. It has been active since 2007, and over that time it has built a reputation for bonuses, cent accounts and very small minimum deposits.
The brand is split into two main businesses:
- an international operation run through a British Virgin Islands company
- a European subsidiary in Cyprus
International clients can open a range of Insta-branded accounts from as little as $1, trade on MetaTrader 4 or 5, and use the long-running ForexCopy and PAMM services. However, the brand also carries one of the longest lists of regulator warnings among offshore brokers, which anyone considering it should read first.
Regulation and safety
Which company you deal with depends on where you live:
- InstaFinance Ltd, historically known as Instant Trading Ltd, is the British Virgin Islands company that serves most international clients. It cites licence SIBA/L/14/1082 from the BVI Financial Services Commission. WikiFX has marked the licence as "unverified" in its 2026 reviews, so check it on the BVI FSC register yourself.
- Instant Trading EU Ltd is authorised by CySEC under licence 266/15. It serves European clients under ESMA rules, with retail leverage capped at 1:30. In 2018 CySEC fined this entity EUR 130,000.
- Insta Global Ltd, a company registered in St Vincent and the Grenadines, also appears in group disclosures. Aggregators describe it as unregulated.
InstaForex has been named in warnings and actions by many authorities over the years:
- United States: the CFTC included it in a 2011 lawsuit against offshore brokers soliciting US customers.
- Bulgaria: the Financial Supervision Commission warned in January 2013 that InstaForex was not licensed to offer services there.
- Belize: an affiliated InstaMarkets entity lost or gave up its IFSC licence in 2013.
- Canada: the Ontario Securities Commission issued an investor warning in 2014.
- France: the AMF placed InstaForex on its unauthorised-broker list in 2015.
- Brazil: the CVM issued an alert in 2016.
- Malaysia and Indonesia: the Securities Commission Malaysia and Bank Negara Malaysia have issued warnings, and Indonesia's BAPPEBTI blocked related domains in 2022 and 2023.
The broker does not accept US residents. Taken together, this record places InstaForex at the weaker end of the safety spectrum for anyone outside the EU.
Fees and costs
InstaForex's international pricing differs by account:
- Insta.Standard and Insta.Cent are spread-only accounts. Their EUR/USD spreads are wide by modern standards; one aggregator puts them at around 3 pips.
- Insta.Pro lowers the spread, with no commission.
- Insta.Zero and Insta.Raw quote from zero and charge a commission instead. Reviewers cite figures from about $0.50 per trade, but the exact charges depend on volume.
Because published figures vary between sources, compare live quotes on a demo account before committing.
Short-term traders should also read the terms carefully. The EU client agreement treats some very short-duration trades as scalping under its abusive-trading section, so check those rules before you trade at high frequency. According to CySEC-required disclosures cited by reviewers, about 72% of retail CFD accounts at the EU entity lose money.
Non-trading costs deserve attention too. Reviewers list a 1.39% fee on Skrill withdrawals, about 2% on bank withdrawals, and a $300 minimum for wire withdrawals.
| Item | International (BVI) | EU (CySEC) |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum deposit | $1 (Standard/Cent); ~$100 (Pro, Zero, Raw) | Higher; varies by account |
| Max leverage | Up to 1:1000 | 1:30 retail |
| EUR/USD spread | ~3 pips on Standard (third-party); from 0 on Zero/Raw | Varies |
| Copy trading | ForexCopy, PAMM | Limited |
Accounts and products
The international company offers several account types, each aimed at a different trader:
- Insta.Standard for general trading
- Insta.Cent for very small positions
- Insta.Pro for tighter spreads
- Insta.Zero and Insta.Raw for commission-based pricing
Accounts are held in USD or EUR. Islamic swap-free conditions are available. The international branch lists about 300 instruments, covering forex, metals, energies, indices, share CFDs and crypto CFDs. The EU entity advertises a much larger catalogue of more than 2,500 CFDs.
Platforms and tools
InstaForex supports MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, the MT4 MultiTerminal, WebTrader and mobile apps. Aggregators also mention its own InstaTick Trader platform. Two long-standing social-trading products are available on the international side:
- ForexCopy lets subscribers mirror other clients' trades.
- PAMM lets managers trade pooled capital.
Reviewers describe the website and client cabinet as cluttered and hard to navigate, and some support pages returned errors during their testing. Share CFDs on US stocks are not available on the demo account. The broker does not offer guaranteed stop-losses.
Deposits and withdrawals
Funding methods vary by entity and region. They include:
- Visa and Mastercard
- Bank wire
- Skrill, Neteller and Rapid Transfer
- Giropay and Przelewy24, mainly for EU clients
- Several cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Tether
Withdrawals can be slow and costly compared with competitors. Aggregator sites also host user complaints about cancelled bonus profits and rejected withdrawals. These are user-reported and unverified, but they are frequent enough to treat bonuses with caution.
Who it suits
InstaForex may appeal to experienced traders who specifically want ForexCopy or PAMM and understand offshore risk. EU residents can use the CySEC entity for stronger protection. Beginners, and anyone who values clean regulatory records, transparent pricing or low withdrawal costs, have better-regulated alternatives.
Verdict
InstaForex offers a $1 entry point, high leverage and mature copy and PAMM tools. Against that, international clients depend on a BVI licence that third parties call unverified. The brand has also collected warnings from regulators in the US, Canada, France, Brazil, Bulgaria, Malaysia and Indonesia, its European arm was fined by CySEC in 2018, and withdrawal fees are high. If you still choose it, use the CySEC entity where possible, avoid bonus offers, and withdraw profits regularly.
